If you've been living in Kawartha Lakes for awhile, we may have already met. I've likely seen you at one of our local events, our Farmers' Market, or we may have worked together on one of our volunteer initiatives. I'd like to tell you a little bit more about my background.

 

With local roots going back five generations, Kawartha Lakes / Victoria County has always been a big part of my life. As far back as the 1860s, when our family first settled in Fenelon Falls, my great-grandparents were store owners there for many years.

 

Community service is an important part of our family history. My grandfather Warren was on the school board when they brought the high school to Fenelon. My uncle, Doug Warren, was on Fenelon Council, and my cousin, Art Robson, was Reeve of Fenelon, many years ago.

I was born in Oshawa, and have been married to Chris Robertson for 38 years. In my spare time you'll find me gardening, skiing, reading, or vacationing at my cottage.

​

If life has taught me anything, it's that times change and flexibility and learning are the keys to a brighter future. In 1979, I graduated from the Michener Institute studying  Radiography. Then, after a short break of 14 years, I studied Philosophy at our local Trent University. Fast forward 22 years, and I was back at school at Fleming College, getting my Eco Systems Management field skills certificate in 2015.

During those years, you may remember my full-time job for 25 years was owning and operating Bobcaygeon and Fenelon X-Ray Services, a local medical business. There, I learned first-hand what works for our local businesses and our economic development.

​

I served 6 years on the Verulam Council and almost 15 years now on Kawartha Lakes Council. Altogether, I'm proud to say I've dedicated over 20 years to our municipal government.

​

I like to think I understand how Ward 2 works. I've been here for quite a while — 41 years — and I've learned my way around our local politics. That experience has taught me a lot, especially how to work with other councillors and how to get things done.

​

I'm proud to have helped bring to life so many accomplishments and so much progress over the years.

Highlights of my 2022 – 2026 term as Ward 2 Councillor

 

I supported...

• the Coboconk Wellness Centre

• walk-in clinics

• the agricultural sector with a memorandum on protecting farm land from development

• the senate standing committee on soil health by asking the agricultural committee of council to support the recommendations

• forming the Care Hub in Lindsay to help challenged individuals

 

I was instrumental in...

• getting brush picked up throughout the city after the ice storm

• developing Lake Management Plans and implementation plans to protect our watershed

• forming an active transportation committee of council

• acquiring funding from TSW to do study with Kawartha Conservation on the water flow at the Bobcaygeon Dam, Save the Walleye.

 

And...

Pushed for early starts on traffic lights at Boyd St. and Cedar Tree in Bobcaygeon

 

Chaired committee to help and find housing for 30 people after the Princess apartment fire

 

Spoke in favour of the affordable housing development on Duke Street in Bobcaygeon

 

Hosted Coffee With A Cop talks in Bobcaygeon and Burnt River to listen to issues and help build stronger connection between our law enforcement and Ward 2 residents
