Accomplishments prior to 2022

Lake Management Plans

Instrumental in getting the Lake Management Plans initiated to maintain and enhance lake health.

Sustainability Plan

Championed the City of Kawartha Lakes Sustainability Plan, to balance and integrate community economic, social and environmental objectives. The Plan provides a stepping stone to future funding sources.

Streetscapes

Worked on enhancement of King Street and Bolton Street, adding modern underground infrastructure and streetside amenities such as benches and waste receptacles that are in keeping with the historic feel of the area.

Waste Management Committee

Chaired Waste Management Committee. I was instrumental in launching the recycling Blue and Green Box systems which helps to divert waste from landfill. Waste Management is again a hot topic as our landfills move toward their capacity. I will also be working with other local municipalities to introduce Source Separated Organics (composting). I have the background and understanding that will be needed to tackle looming environmental issues that affect us all.

Family Health Teams and Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative

Was instrumental in bringing Family Health Teams to Bobcaygeon. I supported forming the Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative to recruit doctors. I have served on its board of directors for many years, knows that bringing more medical professionals to Ward 2 is a vital concern to our residents, and will make it a high priority.

Farmers' Market

Helped create and launch Bobcaygeon Farmers’ Market, a successful community enterprise now in its 13th year as of 2022.

Environmental Action Bobcaygeon (EAB) 2009 - 2022

Lead and support EAB initiatives such as the creation of Wilderness Park and the Bobcaygeon Active Transportation Plan that was then accepted through a motion of council.

Legacy CHEST Fund Committee

Fought to have hydro funds set up as the Bobcaygeon CHEST fund rather than simply spending the initial money as done in other Kawartha Lakes communities. This extremely successful investment now supports our community every year. The fund has been self-sustaining now for 26 years and has helped support many community initiatives, events and organizations such as --

·    Kawartha Settlers' Village

·    Bobcaygeon Curling Club

·    Bobcaygeon Legion

·    Bobcaygeon Seniors' Center

Was Vice Chair of the Planning Committee (2010-2014). The City of Kawartha Lakes is growing and that growth needs to be responsibly managed.
